La Vélo Francette® is a national route since 2015. It offers a chance to discover rivers, waterways, picturesque towns, and village of the French Countryside. From Ouistreham to La Rochelle, la Vélo Francette covers 608 km between Normandy, the Pays de la Loire and the Poitou-Charentes.You can savour the charms of a “Douce” sweet France and set out on a "slow tourism" experience!
La Vélo Francette crosses the southern part of the Vendée over 12 km in the Marais poitevin between l’île d’Elle and Damvix. It skirts part of the Sèvre Niortaise river. During your trip along La Vélo Francette cycle road, you can stop and have a break at Damvix. Here why not rent a boat to discover the Marais poitevin. You can stop off on the l’île Charrouin, a regional nature reserve. Or alternatively have a break at the impressive Abbey of Maillezais via the Vendée Vélo.
