In Chambretaud, a few kilometers from Puy du Fou®, Château Boisniard is the only 5-star hotel in the Vendée. This heritage accommodation welcomes its visitors in the 10 prestige rooms of the castle built in 1407 by Jéhan du Puy du Fou®.
A few kilometers away, in the town of Saint Laurent sur Sèvre, the 4-star Château de la Barbinière welcomes guests into rooms and suites with sober ,refined and elegant decoration.
In Challans, the Château de la Vérie (3 stars) was built at the end of the 16th century, on the ruins of an old feudal castle. Today this hotel offers 21 rooms.
On Noirmoutier Island, listed as a Historical Monument, the Hostellerie du Général d´Elbée is an 18th century building. Located in the calm of a family home just 8 km from Puy du Fou, the Château de la Flocellière is a place steeped in history and classified as a "Historical Monument". It offers 5 rooms in the castle, 2 historic lodgings: Le Donjon (for 10 people) and Le Pavillon Louis XIII (12 to 14 people).
The Manoir de Ponsay located in Chantonay was built in 1492. It has been in the same family for 11 generations. Equipped with every comfort, the 5 spacious bedrooms all have their private bathrooms.
At La Gaubretière, the Château des Tourelles has 4 bedrooms. The building conceals hidden treasures such as the Napoleonic reception hall illuminated by Murano glass chandeliers.

Another atmosphere in Les Epesses, Le Logis du Grand Moulin is a 17th century building which was successively a grain mill, counter-revolutionary printing press, stationery, spinning mill. It now offers 4 bedrooms.
In Breuil Barret, you can sleep in a former Vendée presbytery built in 1868. Transformed into a charming guest house, La Maison du Pinier can accommodate up to 10 people.
Further south, in the Marais poitevin, Le Portail à Moreilles is an exceptional residence. This family house is the former gatehouse of the Abbey of Moreilles.

In Saint Julien des Landes, the 5-star La Garangeoire campsite has developed around the Maison Directoire built in 1842. The current family owned the property in the middle of the 19th century.The estate has had a rich history, which dates back to the Gallo-Roman era, as the few remains testify. Located in an exceptional natural setting. It covers 200 hectares whivh includes 20 hectares for the campsite. Today it has 357 pitches, 150 of which are reserved for traditional camping.
Still in Saint Julien des Landes, at the 4-star Yelloh Village Château La Forêt campsite shows its attachment to its heritage. All mobile home rentals, chalets, furnished tents or unusual accommodation (bubble room or tree house) are located around the castle. Young and old alike can go fishing in one of the park's ponds or have fun on the course in the trees or in paintball.
Ideal heritage gites: so full of character !
The Gîte du Vieux Château is comfortably installed at the end of the small cul-de-sac that bears its name, in the very heart of the town of Poiroux. The stone walls reveal the imposing remains of a fortress which was undoubtedly part of the town's fortifications and dominated the moat. The 4-star cottage is spacious (263 m²) with a capacity for 10 people.
The Moulin de Poupet gite is a former watermill renovated into a large capacity gîte (sleeps 15). Its elevated terrace enables fishmen and families to get a view on the Sèvre Nantaise. Its location in the Poupet valley is a real advantage for nature lovers.
Another delightful watermill stands at La Jaudonnière in the Lay river valley. Lovers f old stone will not be disappointed by the heritage left from the past. The present owners acquired this water mill a few years ago. They transformed it into a gite called Le Moulin de l'âne Romeo (Roméo dunkey’s mill). A gîte was an obvious choice due to the peaceful location and the atypical character of the building.
In the Saint Hilaire des Loges countryside, near the Mervent forest, the small Château Le Retail has been transformed into a charming holiday home ready to accommodate up to 6 guests. The main house dates from 1341 and the medieval vaulted cellar dates from the 11th century.

The Château de Bourneau is a Renaissance-style castle, inspired by the Château d'Azay le Rideau. Within the grounds of the park, the old outbuildings of the Château have now been converted into 4 spacious lodgings (8 to 12 people): Le Parc, La Forêt, La Villa and Le Manoir.
Vendée heritage is not just a castle or a large residence. In the Breton Vendée Marshes, the traditional habitat is the bourrine (thatched farmhouse). In Saint Gervais, two lodgings "La Bourrine" and "L’Escale" have been created in an old authentic bourrine. The henhouse has been converted into this 37 m² gîte!
There is a more refreshing atmosphere when approaching the Vallée de la Roche in Tiffauges. An old watermill, Le Moulin de La Roche, has been transformed into a lodge and set along the Sèvre Nantaise : inside, modern art comes in its most exquisite forms.
