Faymoreau a miner’s experience in the wine tour around Pissotte
Coal in Vendée, that seems highly improbable! But yet, from 1827 to 1958, men did descend into the depths of the earth. Today, visitors can see their settlements which are still inhabited, their cultivated working gardens and the Miners' Chapel. Its 19 stained-glass windows (created by Carmelo Zagari) mixing colours, figures, and spirituality in homage to underground miners.
Return to Vouvant, to get back to your starting point following the D67 or alternatively head towards Fontenay le Comte, town of art and history on the D3 and then the D745.
Possibility to take a break at the Xanton Lake Leisure Centre.
