The Vendée Globe 2020-2021 edition
The 9th edition of the Vendée Globe took place on the 8th November 2020 and reported a new record of 33 candidates registered to take part.
Some of these Vendée Globe skippers are previous participants, podium candidates or first-time contenders. The race is becoming an international venue and has seduced and attracted candidates across many frontiers. More than a third of the competitors of the Vendée Globe came from abroad. There were no less than 10 different nationalities registered: The United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Finland, Germany, New Zealand, Japan, Australia, and France. More women than ever had registered for the last edition of the Vendée Globe, there were 6 women: Samantha Davies, Alexia Barrier, Clarisse Crémer, Pip Hare, Miranda Merron as well as Isabelle Joschke.
Ranking of the Vendée Globe 2020-2021 Edition
After a final sprint to take first place in the 2020-2021 Vendée Globe, Yannick BESTAVEN - Maître CoQ leads the rankings and completes the prestigious round the world race in 80 days.
On 8 November, 33 skippers set off to start the 9th edition of the Vendée Globe. A frantic race that took the public into the heart of the oceans. For more than 80 days, the Vendée Globe skippers shared with us: beautiful images of the marine life and the impressive weather conditions they endured. They invited us to witness moments of daily life onboard their boats. But also, the dramatic rescue of Kevin Escoffier.
With the arrival of the first competitors at Les Sables d'Olonne approaching, the suspense was incredible! The Vendée Globe had never-before-seen such a close finish.
Charlie DALIN - Apivia crossed the finish line of this 9th edition of the Vendée Globe on 27 January 2021 after 80 days, 6 hours, 15 minutes, and 47 seconds.
Closely followed, during the night by Louis Burton - Bureau Vallée, and Yannick Bestaven - Maître CoQ who becomes the big winner of this 2020-2021 edition of the Vendée Globe.

Diverted for the rescue of Kévin Escoffier off the Cape of Good Hope, 3 skippers benefit from a bonus on their race time:

These bonuses have been automatically deducted from the race time when crossing the finish line in Les Sables d'Olonne.
