The Mélusine tower stands 36 metres high, offering an exceptional panoramic view of the Mervent-Vouvant forest and the village of Vouvant.
It dates from the early 13th century, or even the very end of the 12th century. It is circular, which was exceptional for its time. A long-gone chapel once stood against it.
According to legend, the tower was built by the fairy Mélusine.

Keys to the Tower can be hired from the Tourist Information Office, Place du Bail, from Easter to All Saints' Day (not currently accessible).

This Fontenautes experience, combining virtual reality and mini-games, takes you back to the Middle Ages, accompanied by the fairy Mélusine, to discover the fortified castle of Vouvant.
