Accessible tourism destination
Since 2004, the Vendée has endeavoured to become an accessible tourism destination. Thanks to the “Tourism & Handicap” label, it has succeeded in introducing accessible tourist places to visitors with disabilities. This national brand highlights suitable structures, should it be accommodation, places to visit, restaurants, etc. thus making it easier to identify them. All Tourist structures adapted: to people in wheelchairs or with limited mobility, visually impaired or blind, deaf or hard of hearing, as well as mental or psychic disabilities are made visible thanks to the pictograms shown.
"Tourisme & Handicap" : a label for an adapted tourism
The National Tourism & Handicap label, (recognised by the French Government) was created in 2001. The label considers the 4 types of impairments (hearing, mental, motor, and visual) to develop an adapted tourist offer.
