MOHAIR DES QUATRE SAISONS
Description
The Mohair des Quatre Saisons farm is located on the Vendée coast near Les Sables d'Olonne. We breed 54 angora goats and grow organic crops. A shop selling mohair garments from our goats is open all year round, and we offer guided tours.
We are Bénédicte, the little sister, and Pierre-Henri, the big brother. We breed Angora goats and grow cereals (chia, lentils, chickpeas, buckwheat, etc.). Our farm is located at La Maison-Neuve in St Julien-des-Landes, 5 minutes from Les Achards and 15 minutes from Les Sables d'Olonne.
We have the "Agriculture Biologique" label and our cereals have been grown organically since 2020. From 2025, we will be selling all our crops direct from the farm. In addition to direct sales, they will be sold in Biocoop and local produce shops in the surrounding area.
We breed 54 Angora goats for their wool, known as Mohair. They are shorn twice a year and our mohair is processed at the "Les Ateliers Joly" spinning mill to make soft socks and jumpers.
In our farm shop, you'll find hats, berets, gloves, mittens, socks, slippers, scarves, plaids and knitting balls.
The shop is open every Friday from 2.30pm to 7pm and Saturdays from 10am to 1pm. You can find all our information on our website www.vetement-mohair.com
Today, we're taking the farm in a new direction to find a balance:
- Organic production
- Development of agroforestry crops
- Sorting and processing cereals on the farm (end 2024)
- Direct sales of products from our business (since 2021)
- Raising awareness of agriculture through an educational farm (since 2023)
- Creation of a farm tearoom (summer 2024)
"We want to turn our farm into a welcoming place where visitors can share our work".
And that's exactly what we're doing!
You can come and meet us when the shop is open or take a guided tour. As a family or in a group, take the time to visit our farm, for 2 hours or the whole day, come and meet our adorable Angora goats, discover the mohair sector and its transformation process, and understand the farming profession in a fun and entertaining way.
All visits must be booked in advance via our website, by email or by telephone on 06 48 81 09 94 (Bénédicte Morineau).
We look forward to meeting you!
Bénédicte and Pierre-Henri
